Trader Joe’s New Store Locations: Expanding While Others Scale Back. The grocery chain has already opened two new stores in 2025 and plans to open 21 more soon, according to the company’s spokesperson.

Trader Joe’s now operates 581 stores in 42 states and Washington D.C. The only states still without one? Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, and West Virginia.
